This short list is by no means meant to be exhaustive, as there are many other types than listed and variations in existence of those that are specified. However, these links should be useful in providing insight into the stone selection process. A prelude: all stone can be distilled into three main groups comprised of sedimentary, igneous, and metamorphic rock.
